In these times of uncertainty, it is important to cultivate a practice of going inward to build a stronger foundation that cannot be eroded by external factors. This is the bedrock of connection with our true selves—our unwavering eternal natures. Where focusing on outward events can bring fear and anxiety, focusing inward brings peace and calm.
The peace comes from aligning with your soul self. Along with that comes a different kind of certainty, knowing you are connected to something greater than this fragile world of form and that you exist with or without it.
Now, that might seem like a stretch when you are in full viral panic mode, but it is the only real place to come back to for comfort, especially during this time. The only guarantees the physical world offers are its finite nature and the resulting changes that follow. Accepting this is a major step in living a present-centered life. Constantly striving for the elusive goals of finding comfort and safety in the external world is like trying to catch a gnat flying around your face. It’s there, you saw it, you tried to grab it, and it got away.
Going inward connects you to your true unwavering self. It is always with you. You don’t have to go anywhere to find it. It doesn’t appear and disappear, though you may think it does. It is only your focus and awareness that are needed to keep it present. If you falter, you can go back to it at any time. It will never leave you, because it is you. No chocolate bar, facemask, or cuddly blanket can bring the depth of ease you will find inside yourself.
The following is a guided visualization to help you connect to a peaceful place within you.
Just as you created an inner world, you also re-create your outer world. If the eyes of a human, a bat and a bee see differently, does that change reality? The external world is a projection of our sensory organs interacting with matter and energy. It is our experience of it that is real to us, as it is to the bat and the bee. Remember, you can always change your experience and your response. You have that co-creative power. It is an innate ability to go inward and change your perception, to feel inner calm and see things differently, in a more positive light, and to shift your responses.

Very sound advice from someone who has a feel of what is both around and in each of us. Sure it can be good at ‘times’ to chase what appears to be on the outer, that which is perceived around us (it is good to have goals per say) – but lest not forget the inner is the foundation to so much and just perhaps the rest follows. As Sarah said ‘knowing’ this intuitively is key.
